MTMS Passes Gage R&R Study at Medical Molder

Medical Molder Nolato Contour of Baldwin Wisconsin conducted a gage R&R study to prove the capability of the new Melt Temperature Measurement System (MTMS).  The study was done under the direction of Tim Roe-Sr Process Engineer at Nolato Contour.  He was pleased to report the MTMS passed the study.  To our knowledge, it is the only methodology to measure melt temperature that passes a Gage R&R Study.

The goal of all injection molders is to minimize process variation and tighten the quality bell curve through continuous process improvement.

Roe implemented a system to utilize the MTMS by measuring and documenting the melt temperature during all Validation and PPAP runs.

Once production starts, they verify melt temperature and adjust or proceed accordingly.

The two major principles of the MTMS is the use of an insulator cup that prevents the purge from freezing during measurement and the precise positioning of the thermocouple probe in the effective flow path during purging.  These both enhance the performance of the MTMS to take accurate melt temperatures.

If you would like to minimize your normal production variation by implementing the MTMS, contact us for details.
